yesterday...

we celebrated YoU with a birthday party!  

 

 

complete with lots of presents, lots of cupcakes & lots of LoVe from our friends & family that joined us in your special day.  I love having birthday parties & you were so excited to have everyone to come to your house & play. You had a very full day, no nap & you finally gave it up about 7pm in your rocking chair {grandma Klesner style}.  You were such a happy little lady the whole day... we all had a great time watching the little girl excitement. I think one of your favorite moments was when I finally showed you your cake.. complete with Dora on top!  You even had to blow out your candles twice! This morning you told me you thought today would be a good day to have another Dora party!  Too cute.  Love you so much.... happy happy 3rd birthday Lydia!

today our little Lydia turns three... 

at three...you're sweet, loud, thoughtful, imaginative, happy, stubborn, ornery, funny, you love wearing dresses, not jeans, pink is your favorite, love your "boys" {Collin & Evan}, your daddy, want your mommy {unless I won't let you have your way... then it's all daddy}, you love Olivia the pig, Dora the Explorer, Curious George & Cinderella, you like butterflies, you love being at home, staying in your pjs all day, you recently gave up your binky, you've been potty trained almost a year, you got you're ears pierced a few months ago, you still carry "stinky pinky" that you've had from day 1, you don't enjoy change, you always know when it's Lydie Friday, you hate snow & anything else that gets you wet & dirty, you freak out a little when your fingers get wrinkly after a bath, your favorite breakfast is pink oatmeal, you like sandwiches & pizza & fruit & lots of milk! 

we've had a great time having you in our family, little girl.  you've brought lots of laughter, lots of pink, & just lots of girly stuff!  there is definitely days when you challenge us with your strong personality, but you always makes us smile & laugh with your funny ways. we love you miss Lydia Marie :)

photo success!

Well, it wasn't easy...I knew it wouldn't be.  Little girl w/ attitude started off flailing on the floor, crying, definitely NOT wanting to get pictures taken.  Then with a little calm talk, some smarties, some tickles & the thought of a tea party in her head... finally we got her to cooperate!  My sister Carol is definitely amazing with the camera {thank you Carol we LOVE you!}.  I think between the two of us we captured almost 200 pics!  I'm wishing I would have had a hidden video camera in her room at the time too... it is so funny the things that come from this little person!  First thing I did was put together a new birthday invitation with some of the pictures... so I *think* this is the final one... 

 

of course I'll be sharing more of the pictures... maybe I'll do a photo a day in March {since it is her month!}  I *LoVe* new pictures :)

Coffee filter flowers?

YES!!! WoW.  I've been seeing these cute little puffy flowers all over when checking out my fave blogs recently.  You could say I was giddy when I found the tutorial from one of my favorite designers Rhonna Farrer!  I've been hooked on all the beautiful inspiration I've been getting there & can't wait to try it all!  Check out my first trial of these super cute, super easy little buggers here {I had to stop at 3... really, I still need my coffee people!}:

 

My plan is to create a whole load of these to make garland for Miss Lydia's birthday party & then they will become part of her room decor!  I'm thinking of all kinds of way I can add some interesting color effects to the filters... I'll let you know how that goes.  WARNING: creating these little stinkers is highly addicting.  Be prepared to have large amounts of coffee filters & hot glue sticks on the premises.
