DSD p&co blog hop

we're celebrating DSD! time for all us crazy, fun & lovable scrapbookers to celebrate with a blog hop & awesome sales! we have a fun one today at P&Co too. Check out this awesome kit you can pick up when you complete the blog hop & enter the secret code in the shop...

ummmm, hello! yes, you can say it... it's FREAKIN' AWESOME!!! so lucky I get to create with THE BEST designers around... & lucky you to get this kit for free :) {you'll get more on that soon} but first...

Do you have a smartphone? I know it may seem like a silly question, but hey, there are some that still don't. Mine is practically permanently attached to my side. lol. But really, I use it for a lot. I love creative apps & am a die hard Instagrammer. {want to follow me? my user name is robynmeierotto} It's like my mini scrapbook. I share inspiring quotes, pictures of my life, my weight loss & healthy eating journey, my creative career & business. It's a huge mash up of about everything that concerns my life. I love it & I've met so many amazing people through it as well. So, I thought I'd share with you a few of my favorite apps... Instagram, of course, but a few others I use most frequently along with Instagram.

I use the Rhonna Designs app most every day to write on photos, add graphics, make up quotes. It's like mini photoshop for me. Pic Tap Go is basically high quality filters for your phone photos. You can layer them, control the intensity, another type of mini photoshop. {can you see a trend here?} The Studio app is one I just found last week. It's free & has sooo many cool things in it. You can use the ready made word art, or make your own & I'm sure so much more I haven't figured out yet. It works in layers, again, like photoshop. I'm in love already. Do you have some favorite creative apps for your phone? I'm always interested in new cool things like that!

ok, now. here's the deal-i-o...

October house party

ummmm. can someone tell September it was way too short & it kinda freaked me out when my 5 year old came into our room this morning announcing "it's OCTOBER!!!" {yeh, she's kinda obsessed with the calendar... girl always knows what day it is better than I do}. It's not that I don't love this time of year, but how fast time's been slipping by lately has my head spinning! Oh well, I guess time flies when you're having fun & are busy, so I'll stop complaining :)

The great thing about the start of a new month?  A new house party at DHD!

July House Party @DHD

sorry, folks, I'm late to the party... mostly because we've been doing lots of fun stuff this last week & we had a big party of our own yesterday, celebrating our middle kid's 10th birthday. I'm hoping to post highlights from that later today, but first, I thought I'd better show you what I contributed to the DHD House Party.

I had to scrap this photo of Lydia at her swimming lessons last week. Although it's not that great... it definitely was a great memory!  This girl took several jumps off the low dive with & without a life jacket, a few jumps off the high dive to her teacher waiting at the bottom & went down the water slides for the first time by herself.  She's getting big enough & strong enough to swim herself to the places she needs to be & is so very determined. Of course, she still needs help every now & then when those little arms & legs get tired, but she has come so far.  She is definitely my fearless one. Collin & Evan amazed me as well this week with flips off the high dives.  So much fun to watch them!  Both of them were told by their teachers they are great swimmers & Collin almost beat his teacher racing across the pool.  Collin was also doing some work to retrieve bricks from the bottom of the pool & trying to save the dummy.

What a great week to be at swimming lessons. It was a nice hot week & the kids always love spending every day at the pool {I didn't mind it either}

I'll be back again later... today's going to be a multiple post day ;)

sneak peek 6.25

hey everyone! hope you had a fabulous weekend! just wanted to pop in & give you a little sneak at a dollar kit I have releasing tomorrow at DHD!

layout by {me} using neon+kraft mini kit releasing tomorrow {for just a dollar!}, the Sprats alphas by Gennifer Bursett & Protectors set 1 by Karla Dudley.

I wanted to put together some of the pool pictures from June so far... all these were taken with my iPhone on Instagram.  We bought this pool in July last year & it has probably been the BEST money we've ever spent. How are you enjoying your summer?

The kids start swimming lessons today at the public pool... I think it's their favorite week of the summer!  Collin has this year & next year & then hopefully he can do the Lifeguard testing the summer he turns 15. Although many of his class mates are no longer taking swimming lessons, I see him becoming a stronger & more confident swimmer every year & love that he's working toward the long term goal of becoming a life guard & a teacher himself.

project life. week 10.

geez, I feel like I've been all over the place with this project. paper, digital, changing up templates & trying to simplify & get it done.  I've pondered not doing it to free up time for more layouts or design time... I'm still not sure. I think I go between loving the everyday aspect of it & remembering all those "little things" & just being annoyed by the thought of having one more thing to keep up with. but I decided over the weekend to try to finish this week up.  this was the week leading up to Lydia's birthday party, so a lot of the first page is pretty focused on her & the entire second page is totally devoted to the day of her party.

so, here we go...week 10. finally.

the week went from snowy & cold to warm & sunny. Dan started to install the flooring in our basement that we've had stored for about 3 years. {YAY!} we finally got the right kind of snow for a snowman, which lasted approximately 3 hours :(   Lydia had kindergarten roundup & collected all her stars... she was over the top excited this day.  After we went shopping for party supplies...lots of fun!  it's been a good winter/spring for practicing pitching for Evan & Dan.  Love to watch him getting better & better.  My parents were away for the winter in Texas & weren't going to make it back for Lydia's birthday, so my mom sent a whole box of goodies for her.  We called & put her on speaker phone while she unwrapped all the presents.  So fun.  Lydia also was able to bring home the preschool class monkey the weekend of her birthday!  She has been anticipating this pretty much the whole school year.  We recorded lots of fun party events with monkey.

this page is all about the party. I know I've said it before, but this girl is all about her birthday, so I love to plan a really special day for her.  plus, this was #5... my baby is growing up :(  It was a really fun day!

trying to get some things done around here today.  between Cardinals games this weekend {awesome games btw} we were weather watching here in Iowa, hoping the severe storms would stay away & thankfully they did!  Today is super windy & cooler with tons of clouds.  I'm pretty much over the rain & wind.

we also did our first family meeting {I had notes & everything}.  As the boys are getting older, we're definitely finding parenting more challenging.  I've been in a little bit of a panic, just knowing that Collin will be a teenager in a few short months. I'm not gonna sugar coat it, we were getting fed up at how the kids were starting to disrespect us, the way they were using language, the amount of arguing & yelling that was going on & things were just feeling a little out of control.  We needed to pull in the reigns. So, the x-box has been taken away at least until the end of the school year.  We discussed our expectations of them, what they expect from us, things we can do together as a family, ideas for summer trips, etc.  I was really happy {through the tears} at how it went.  The boys were excited to give ideas & we came up with lots of things to try.  We're trying to get them more involved with how things work in the house, helping out more, giving more responsibilities & just having fun together.  This weekend was really great for us.  It went from turbulent to calm & pretty low key.  Everyone was much happier & hope we can keep it that way.  Wish us luck!
