a few quick notes...

just wanted to share a few things with you guys today.

a super cute hybrid project by miss Jen Allyson with my Not So Freaky mini kit

you can check out how she made it at the DHD blog {as well as all the other cool projects the designers are putting up there this month}.

Tonight, there is a hour long speed scrap going on at the DHD forums.  Sounds like tons of fun, hoping maybe I can make it back home to jump in on this... maybe I'll see ya there!

I also wanted to share a layout I put together with the Feels Like Home October Kit.  These pics were from Dan's 40th birthday party... I got just a few good pictures from this night & loved these ones of Dan & Lydie together.

3 wishes

so one month from today is my birthday... my hubby always complains he doesn't ever know what to buy me, so hey, I thought I'd help the poor guy out.  I love getting catalogs in the mail that I open up & have so  much lovely stuff.  Yesterday it was the Title Nine catalog... here are 3 things that all share one thing I LOVE: stripes. I don't know what it is, but I just love 'em.

I mean, how could you not love this scarf?  It comes in 2 other color combos too, but love that pop of color!

& this dress... just looks comfy & flattering & would look really cute with some boots that I have :)

& this sweater... omgoodness, love at first sight.

that's 3 wishes... I have lots more, but don't worry honey, you don't have to buy it all ;) plus Christmas is coming soon too!

he's the big 4-0

Today's my sweeties birthday... and his twin sisters of course!  Last night we were able to get out without the kids because we volunteered to work the beer tent at the rodeo for HTC {the kids' school}.  We treat any volunteer opportunity as a chance that we have to get out, kid-less & enjoy ourselves.  I know... lame. Anyway we had fun.  Today we've just been taking it easy hanging with the family around home & I made him a nice supper of steak, mashed cheesy potatoes, broccoli & cherry crisp.  It's been an awesome day of talking on the porch & Dan just doing whatever he wanted to do {which I guess was mowing the lawn}.  The guy doesn't ask for much, but we treated him to a new cool car t shirt, a big fountain mountain dew from hy-vee gas & a big container of Whoppers!  But, next weekend I'm planning a nice bbq with friends & family at our house, so we'll be able to celebrate for sure!

Funny, while we were talking this morning... we met when Dan was 20. Yes, it is crazy to think that I've known him half his life.... I've loved most every moment of the time I've spent with you Dan & if it's possible, I think you've gotten better with age :)  I'm especially proud of all the great things you've accomplished that we dreamed of, but never imagined could come to reality.  You're a great man, that's for sure & a great daddy too!

We Love you & hope you enjoyed your birthday!

*ps* we want to send big birthday wishes to Donna {Dan's twin sister} today as well!  We hope you enjoyed your birthday too!  Can't wait to see you soon!  Love you :)

happy birthday dad!

today's my daddy's birthday... talked to him earlier & sounds like they're having a nice time away with some camping friends.  I'm glad him & mom got to get away this week & enjoy themselves.... so grateful they are able to still travel & have great times with each other in their "home sweet home" {their motorhome}.

It's a funny thing about my dad... when I was growing up I thought he was one of the meanest dads around. I was close with him, but I was definitely a mommy's girl {yes with her at all times, much to her dismay I'm sure}.  As I got older in high school & got married & had kids my fondness for my dad has grown.  I've got a big old mushy soft spot in my heart for him :)  He's loved & cuddled all our babies & brought out his sternness when they act up, but still you can tell how much he loves his kids & grandkids.  I think he's got a special sweet spot for some little girl I know {Lydie is his baby's baby & the last grandchild}.  He has shown all the support & love I could ever ask for & I appreciate beyond words all that he has done for not just me, but for our family.  After all, if it wasn't for him being so "mean" growing up, I wouldn't have those famous words to look back on... "shut of the lights! %^%^*(*&^^&*!!!".  Seriously, though... I love you dad.  I hope you have a great birthday {& many. many. more. of course!}.  Oh yeh, & thanks for being our official lawn mower guy.  You're the best.  hugs n kisses

creative challenges & new kit

so recently I had come upon this website called Colour Combos Galore & loved how they gave a weekly color combination challenge specifically for scrapbookers & gave inspiration from their design team along with it. Well, you could imagine my excitement when I saw on the Pencil Lines website this morning that they've teamed up together with a sketch & a color combo!

So here is the sketch:

& here's my version that I created:

.... and the new digital kit I created with this color combo!  couldn't resist ;)

you can get it right here in my etsy shop!

have a fun & happy monday :)
