project life. week 2. jan 8-14.

week 2. warm weather. cold weather. snow. finally. lunch date with daddy. chiropractor visit for Lydia. starting again on c25k. homework. homework. homework. dr visit for me. more invention convention finishing for Evan. science fair experiements for Collin. stress. a friends birthday party for Evan. & a family trip to see the Cardinal Caravan to end our week.

pg 1

i found myself using lots of printables {this page Hello Forever, Paislee Press & some older ones from Jen Allyson} & labels {squee! new from Martha Stewart} this week & also used a new {free} 4x6 photo template {from Paislee Press} to put together photo collages for the 4x6 spots. I included a printout the dr gave me on my blood test results. lots of stitching this week too to add a little something.

I also seemed to use an old Making Memories magnetic stamp set that I've had forever. may have to look into getting some more little alphabet sets.  I really liked using them again.  I used a little Kraft Funday on this page too. the 6x6 pads are so perfect.  I printed out a screenshot of a text conversation I had with Collin one day, stamped out a portion of something Lydia said, included a birthday party invitation, a kids menu from a restaurant we ate at & a sticker from a jersey Evan got this weekend. On this page I used another few printables from Hello Forever {umm, hello, see the 23 on the jersey & the 23 on the card? meant to be} & Paislee Press & also my Everyday Journaling Cards

I also included a 6x12" insert this week to document our Saturday trip to see the Cardinal Caravan.  It was definitely a highlight of our week.  I could have included so much more, but tried to not go overboard because I'm sure I'll be making layouts about it as well.  For this I tried to do photo collages in photoshop to streamline the process a little. I added an overview of the trip by typing it up & printing it on a journal page.  I also included a bit from a brochure we got there.

so that's it! week 2 done.

family twenty eleven

most of you that know me, know that I've been a paper scrapbooker since around the time our first son, Collin was born, about 12.5 years ago.  Then about a year ago I switched pretty much completely to digital. Well, now with creating a few paper lines here & there for My Mind's Eye, I've caught the paper bug again.  I've been working on my December Daily {updated photos to come soon... if the sun ever shines here again!} & so I've been picking up supplies here & there.  I also re-subscribed to get the Studio Calico monthly kits, which I always love.  Today, I really wanted to complete a paper layout... just to make sure I still knew what I was doing ;)  I started off with one of our family photos that my sister Carol took just before Thanksgiving. I used parts of the Studio Calico December kit, some of my Kraft Funday, & some other misc goodies {some of my digi designs even made an appearance}

as you can see I sorta went crazy with another new "supply" I picked up a few weeks back... a sewing machine!  I've been an admirer of stitched pages for a long time & I'm really loving it!

december daily {days 6&7}

12.6.11

on this day we had our first real snow that stuck. i always love the first snow, it just makes everything look magical on our property.  i took this photo with my phone out of one of my office windows.

of course Lydia had to get out in it immediately, no matter how cold!  i probably spent 10 minutes getting her ready & she spent about 3 outside. lol. just long enough to make a snow angel {which she's been talking about for weeks} & to stomp around & touch it with her bare hands {which, in turn, made her want to come inside...}.  i'm a real wimp in the cold & the snow wasn't good for snowmen, so I watched from the porch.

here's a look at the spread.  i really have no rhyme or reason if I put photos on the front of the base page for the day... just if it looks right i guess.

12.7.11

on this day, as i came back from taking Lydia to school, I was just sort of overcome by how beautiful our setting was around our home, especially with the snow covering things.  I also loved how the boys footprints were at the end of the driveway from them walking to catch the bus that morning.  I stopped the truck on my way in the driveway to catch the photo.

then, when i had parked in the driveway i noticed the sun coming up over the buildings in our back yard & in the distance it was sort of hazy... just beautiful.  I'm so happy I caught this.  I love where we live...

Happy December!

can you believe it? of course december with young kids in the house is the most anticipated month of the year, so we've been getting lots of updates from our 4 year old about it :)  Evan {9} woke up this morning & told his dad "happy december"! Which in turn, sent Lydia into MERRY CHRISTMAS month!!! lol.  unfortunately I've failed once again at getting an advent calendar together for the kids, but I may hurry & get a few things together today yet... maybe it will be an evening or after school suprise?

one thing I've been working on for december is my december daily {made oh so famous by miss ali edwards}.  this is my first year doing it {I'm not counting last year when I made a measly 3-4 digi pages}.  I started mine around thanksgiving, rounding up papers & elements from my older paper stash & my newest papers from My Mind's Eye & also some of my digi products that I printed out!

i started out putting together my cover. i made it pretty simple with some of my kraft funday elements, more may be added later, who knows. I modified a chipboard book cover i had bought last year when i bought my zutter.  i'm using binder rings to hold everything together.

i than went through my papers i had picked out & cut them to 5x7" {some may be different} & backed ones that didn't suit me. this is a partial lineup.

then i started with my number pages... i'll add in extra pages each day as needed.  i'm anticipating them being mostly plain kraft with photos & embellishements added as i like.

there's my peeks at my pages. i'll try to keep up with the blog & post my pages as much as i can.  i'm trying to make this as stress free as possible on myself & i've already decided that i'm probably going to be taking most of my pictures with my iPhone.  it just is always there & i've gotten so much better at documenting the everyday stuff because of it... that makes me happy.

i've got my workspace all cleaned up & ready to go this morning... can't wait to get started!

are you joining in?

we were believers & breakin' out the paper...

source: MLB

first of all... World Series Champions... our beloved St Louis Cardinals!  We believed so hard in this team... each & every one of the pieces & parts of it.  But we still are in awe of what they've accomplished in these last few months!  What manager Tony LaRussa said a few days ago is so true "some say we're not good enough but our heart is always good enough".  Love it. I love how every single one of these guys is a great person as well as a great player & they all combine to make up the best.team.ever! Congrats Cards on #11 in '11... it was well deserved & you fought for it like true champs!

& now... to calm my nerves a little last night at the beginning of the game I decided to play with some of my paper stash I just received from My Mind's Eye!  I was super excited earlier in the week when I got a big box of my newest releases... Kraft Funday & Love Me :)

I haven't paper scrapped in a LONG time, but had fun playing with my new goodies! I forgot that it was a little nerve-racking having to make final decisons of paper cutting & embellishments without the convenience of photoshop :)  I do love seeing all the dimension & feeling the paper again though!

this was a pic of Lydia the day of her school pictures.  Most everything is from Kraft Funday... there are so many fun goodies in this line! love it all... I can't pick my favorite!

these pics were just taken yesterday of Lydia's owl costume.  On this one I used Kraft Funday, Love Me & Mischievous! also notice on both layouts I used pictures I printed from my Instagram!  I love how they turned out... I can't get enough of that app! So fun to put it all together! Hoping to play some more this weekend too... I might as well, I already have the mess started! lol

Thanks for looking :)
