38.

wait, what? thirty?eight? huh? I have no idea how in the world I got to the age of 38... aren't I still 28?

I know I'm fortunate to be one of those people who feel like I'm really still in my 20s, not inching closer to the big 4-0. I've led an amazing life so far, lucky to find the one I love so young {love ya baby}, working hard along with him to build a life we only dreamed of when we first met, enjoying our kids & our home as they grow...

Really, the time has flown by & the last few years I feel like I've "found myself". Yeh, I know... blah blah, how cliche. But, for real, I've pushed myself over the last couple years into unfamiliar & uncomfortable territory in both my personal & work life. I feel more confident in my abilities as a mom, I've tried to become a better & more understanding wife {I'm pretty amazing at that already, but, hey there's always room for improvement, right?}, I've built my design business into something I really had no idea I could drive myself to do & I'm feeling way more at peace & confident about who I am than I ever thought possible. One thing I've always felt is people just have to decide to be happy & I truly try to live that way. There are rare occasions I feel that the pessimist comes out in me... I'm a glass-half-full kinda girl. So here I am, on my 38th birthday, hoping you all love celebrating your birthdays as much as I love celebrating them. It's really a blessing... life is way to short to not enjoy it. So, I'm giving you this gift, from me to you... a printable for you...hope you love it, I think it says it all.

have a wonderful day... I'm going to celebrate mine with my mama doing some shopping & having lunch!

going after dreams... 1 year later

{click on image to download this free print}

do you ever feel this way? This is truly how I feel about the last year or so of my design career... taking a BIG risk staying at home with my daughter full time while trying to pull off a full time design position from home. Quitting a good job because I just couldn't do it all. Putting myself out there by trying my hand at digital design & then approaching Jen at Design House Digital to sell my designs. All these things are WAY beyond my normal comfort zone.  I would have never pushed myself so hard or made myself do these things normally.  But I did.  & it's opened so many doors for me.  It's like they say, one door closes so another can open. If I hadn't contacted Jen, I would never have kept up with the digital design {which I LOVE}, would never had met so many of the wonderful, amazing people I have met through Design House Digital & would never had the opportunity to design for My Mind's Eye. I'm truly in awe of what you can do if you just put yourself out there!

today marks the day 1 year ago that I debuted my digital designs at DHD... I can't believe it!  it's definitely been a whirlwind & so, so much fun!  Like I said, I've met so many amazing people that I couldn't imagine not having a part of my life in just this short time.  so dream, dream, dream... but put those dreams in motion, you just never know where it will lead :)

so in celebration... I'm having a sale in my shop this weekend... a freebie & a $1 kit + 25% off EVERYTHING! I hope you'll pick up a few things & I'll see all your wonderful creations in the DHD gallery! enjoy!

thanks to everyone for an amazing.incredible.nonstop.crazy.life changing year! you're the best :)

digital heart print

Last weekend we spent the weekend packing up & putting away our Christmas decor & Lydia was not so happy about this :)  I told her we'd make up some Valentine's Day decorations to put up around the house, so I thought I'd show you a little of what I'd done.  I started with this print...

you could do one up like this too if you have a program like photoshop or photoshop elements. All I did was open up a new file 8.5x11 inches & I had a heart shape from one of my kits that I used for a clipping mask.  Basically I kept duplicating the heart layer & placed them how I wanted them until I filled the area I wanted to use {I did mine so it would fit in a 8x10 frame with extra room around}.  Then I picked my papers... I used Jen Allyson's Vintage Findings Pink Paris & Antique Prints Digital Papers.  I clipped a the papers sort of in a random order in each heart until I got the "look" I wanted.  Next I added the stitching over them.  For this I used my In Stitches Neutral Basics kit {this one's the tan straight stitch}.  For the background I used the lined paper from my Feels Like Home September kit & then added the Plain paper from Jen's Antique Prints kit over top as an overlay.  With a little drop shadow on the hearts, it looks just like you cut them all from "real" paper with no mess!  I just love how it turned out & it looks so sweet in my chunky distressed black frame that I revolve my seasonal prints in.  I hope you'll try one for yourself!

sneak peek 12.22

thought I'd give you a little sneak of what I'm releasing this week... not too over.the.top, but I'm trying to fit in extra time with family & some home made gifts too this week.  last week I released the cupcake kits & that's where I took the paper from for this layout.  this week I'll be releasing some more basic stitches in fun colors & a cute & versatile new alpha/number kit {both shown in the layout above}.  I hope you'll enjoy them both... I'm trying to build up my shop with some great things that you can use again & again!

oh... & I thought I'd share these prints I made up for the kids' teachers for Christmas gifts this year.  I changed up colors for each teacher & I hope they enjoy them.

for these I used Karla Dudley's Digi Essentials alpha stamps & then cut some of my solid papers in the letters for the color.  I also used in the background a paper from my Feels Like Home September kit.  I then printed them out on my Epson photo printer.  Easy & done!
