digital heart print

Last weekend we spent the weekend packing up & putting away our Christmas decor & Lydia was not so happy about this :)  I told her we'd make up some Valentine's Day decorations to put up around the house, so I thought I'd show you a little of what I'd done.  I started with this print...

you could do one up like this too if you have a program like photoshop or photoshop elements. All I did was open up a new file 8.5x11 inches & I had a heart shape from one of my kits that I used for a clipping mask.  Basically I kept duplicating the heart layer & placed them how I wanted them until I filled the area I wanted to use {I did mine so it would fit in a 8x10 frame with extra room around}.  Then I picked my papers... I used Jen Allyson's Vintage Findings Pink Paris & Antique Prints Digital Papers.  I clipped a the papers sort of in a random order in each heart until I got the "look" I wanted.  Next I added the stitching over them.  For this I used my In Stitches Neutral Basics kit {this one's the tan straight stitch}.  For the background I used the lined paper from my Feels Like Home September kit & then added the Plain paper from Jen's Antique Prints kit over top as an overlay.  With a little drop shadow on the hearts, it looks just like you cut them all from "real" paper with no mess!  I just love how it turned out & it looks so sweet in my chunky distressed black frame that I revolve my seasonal prints in.  I hope you'll try one for yourself!

happy tree decor!

Ok, so this was delivered to my door yesterday...

yep, the Silhouette SD digital die cutting machine!  I've been stalking it for a long time, wondering if it was something that I really wanted or not.  I've seen so many cool projects done with it & had lots of cool ideas in my mind.  I finally decided to take the leap, as I could use it for Pink Trike & for gifts, etc.  So this morning I unpacked it, got it hooked up & loaded on my mac & off I went.  I figured out a few things right off that I messed up, but seriously it's super cool & easy to use.  My first project was an easy one... I had in my head that I wanted to make a banner garland for our christmas tree.  I took a file I already had created & just resized to what I needed.  My cup runneth over with excess scrapbook paper that has been sad & lonely in their bins.  I've been wanting to clean house of "traditional" scrapbook stuff, so that's what I decided to use... but how sweet would this be made out of any digital paper printed off & cut?  Here's how it turned out...

I think it's super cute.  All I did was fold the banners in half & stapled them to some twine.  I also made up those coffee filter flowers over the weekend & added the scrapbook papers to the centers & the buttons that I have a gazillion of!  I wanted our tree to look sorta fun & simple this year.  I've used the same ornaments & decorations for the last five years & I'm planning on putting them to use in other parts of the house to decorate.

Since I was so busy playing today, I didn't get any "real" work done, but I do have new kits coming out tomorrow... they'll be printable Christmas gift tags!  I've done up 4 different versions, with 2 different sheets in each... super useful this time of year!  I need to get some printed off myself... see you soon!

new holiday photo cards!!!

today my release for DHD is something I've been wanting to do for a while... I love sending out photo cards over the holidays to our friends & family, but often find it hard to get everything done in the the hustle & bustle that goes on this time of year.  Here's what I've done... in each kit there are 3 layered files that you can add your photos, sentiment & name(s) to so easily!  Then, either print them out at home, or send them off to your favorite photo developer online or in a store.  Cool, yes?  I wanted to give you some options... one set it based around the Holly Jolly digital kits I released earlier this month & the other set is based on the Holiday Fun digital kits, so if  you want to add something, change something up, whatever... you can use them together!  Also, with the files being layered, you can easily change positioning, delete things you don't want to use... like a mini digital layout :) {ps: click on the image of the kit for the link}

& here are some of my examples using the files...

I can't wait to do the "real deal" up soon... my sister is taking our family pictures this weekend.  My main goal? Try to get a photo of all 3 kids TOGETHER {this has been virtually impossible since Lydia started walking}!  Oh & I'd like a nice shot of our entire family too :)

So don't forget to head over to DHD today to get these templates for a steal {30% off just today} & then you can check one more thing off your list of "to-do's"!

it's beginning to feel a lot like...

yep, that's right... Christmas!  Funny, because I'm about to head off with Lydia's preschool class to the pumpkin patch this morning :)  Anyway, wanted to give you all a little peek of my release tomorrow.  I'll be heading out of town later today on a family adventure & just in case the internet or laptop don't cooperate *gasp* I wanted to show you this awesome layout that DHD decorator Katherine Hansen was nice enough to leave in my inbox!  {LOVE it}  As you can tell, lots of chipboard, lots of red & just a little glitter added for good measure!  ps... I've also got a freebie for you to coordinate :)

Well, I'm off to the pumpkin patch... can't wait! This is Lydia's first *official* field trip & I've got tons of super cute pictures from the boys' field trips back in their preschool days, so I think that's what I'm most excited about!

have a great Wednesday!
