cute finds... preschool backpacks

so with the anticipation around here from one little girl so ready to go to preschool, we've been looking at lots of backpacks!  after all, isn't that one of the most important things?  hehe.  there are lots of cute ones out there, but here are a few that are our favorites right now.

oh my cuteness... this owl one is my favorite.  it's made by skip hop & i found this image at land of nod, but i believe you can find it other places too.  they also had bee & mouse ones that were pretty darn cute.

well, i have to say, this one has the "lydie look" to it... it's pink AND it's polka dotted.  i found this one at gymboree. {plus they had some coordinating outfits to go along with it}.

oh & this ladybug one from gap... i thought it was pretty clever how they designed it with the grommets for the eyes & the mixture of different materials is pretty cool.

...and of course i was looking at these with other thoughts in mind... like that cool color combo on the owl backpack & the red & cream polka dots i want to make up to use on a layout... or how i could combine materials like they did on the ladybug backpack to create a really interesting page... hmmm.  so fun to think about!

inspiration: layered flowers

for this Tuesday's inspiration I've found yet another girly item to draw ideas from... how cute are these flip flops from baby Gap?  I was immediately drawn to those layered flowers... which I in turn made my paper version that would be so sweet on a scrapbook page or to decorate for a party!

here's what I used: crepe paper streamers, glue gun, circle punch, buttons, jewels, a little Jenni Bowlin letter sticker & some papers I printed out from my Oh Happy Day girly line {available for download in the shop}!

to make the flowers you just take whatever length of streamer you like... I used 3 different lengths here. Obviously the longer the length, the poofier the flower.  Just take your streamer & start at one end & gather it, {sort of pleating it in a circular formation}, tacking in the same place every few gathers.  When you're done you can add buttons, punched patterned paper, jewels, circle stickers...!  They're also nice & lightweight, which makes them perfect for a scrapbook page!

inspiration: sequins

This is something new I'm going to start on a weekly basis... found inspiration from, well just wherever!  I hope you all enjoy it & will gain inspiration for some of your own projects!

Today is sequins... I know, I'm generally not a sequin kinda girl, but of course having a little girl around the house has changed my outlook on many things!  I thought these girly tees from crewcuts were so incredibly awesome.  Could you imagine creating a scrapbook page or a little art piece & adding embellishments like this?  Really you wouldn't even have to use sequins... what about buttons, tiny cut paper pieces... hmmm.  I think this could be a fun challenge to create with.  I'll be posting later with my page... wanna play?  Feel free to leave a link to your creation in my comments!

oh & by the way... I want that camera shirt for myself... :)
