fun filled weekend
This weekend we spent a lot of time in West Point, where the all popular Sweet Corn Festival was going on. The morning yesterday was consumed by the parade, the boys were excited to see us go by on our float, Lydia looked extremely confused as we passed & yelled out to her. Word from grandma is that she was approached by a clown (my cousin) who offered her homemade ice cream. The ice cream was a hit, the clown, not so much. As with all summer festivals around this area, there was a carnival, which we usually shy away from a little, just not too into that kind of stuff. Of course the boys are getting way too old for us to fool them, so we decided to take them up yesterday afternoon after the parade {lots of candy, btw}. The boys haven't been on a ton of rides over the years, like I said, we're not real into it, so they weren't quite brave enough to go on some of the rides, and others were a little too baby. They did go on bumper cars, Lydia got to ride on the carousel, then it was onto the games. They each won a prize, which made them happy, so we moved on from there {kettle corn, of course!}. The picture is them playing the water gun game with their uncle Randy. That was probably Evan's favorite, Collin's was balloon darts.

take it easy Tuesday
On Tuesday night, we took a break from everything we needed to do & went out in the yard so Dan could play catch w/ the boys. Evan's been begging for a few days, but it's just been WAY too hot! So he finally got his way. It was nice to just relax a little & watch them play in the yard. Evan's been practicing his pitching stance, as shown in the picture, as well as catching "pop flies" that Dan was pitching to him. He's getting pretty good at it.... the kid can throw too. He's looking forward to playing real baseball next summer. We need to get Collin a glove, he's never been interested in playing baseball too much, but he does enjoy playing catch with the guys. Lydia was loving the time outside as well. She found a dirt patch to sit on & realized that she could fit perfectly between daddy's tall legs. It was a great night... need to remember to let all the "stuff" go sometimes & just relax.
getting there...
Seems like we're getting alot done on the house, but hard to see sometimes. They've finished all but one portion of the roof over Lydia's room, but waiting for the weather to calm down before they open that up, hopefully that will be finished by the weekend. In the meantime, they've been putting up siding, putting up soffit & readying for seamless gutters. Oh, & yesterday afternoon my brother was hanging drywall in the basement since it was deadly hot outside! Love how it's looking, still haven't gotten enough time to paint alot of the trim on the porch, but we'll get it done, eventually. In the pictures, you can see the color that the house will actually be on the upper portions, under the fishscales. Love the color.... Whole Wheat from Sherwin Williams. Oh, & can you see our lovely new roof? Much better than the white flat shingles & white metal that were there before!
