december daily {days 6&7}

12.6.11

on this day we had our first real snow that stuck. i always love the first snow, it just makes everything look magical on our property.  i took this photo with my phone out of one of my office windows.

of course Lydia had to get out in it immediately, no matter how cold!  i probably spent 10 minutes getting her ready & she spent about 3 outside. lol. just long enough to make a snow angel {which she's been talking about for weeks} & to stomp around & touch it with her bare hands {which, in turn, made her want to come inside...}.  i'm a real wimp in the cold & the snow wasn't good for snowmen, so I watched from the porch.

here's a look at the spread.  i really have no rhyme or reason if I put photos on the front of the base page for the day... just if it looks right i guess.

12.7.11

on this day, as i came back from taking Lydia to school, I was just sort of overcome by how beautiful our setting was around our home, especially with the snow covering things.  I also loved how the boys footprints were at the end of the driveway from them walking to catch the bus that morning.  I stopped the truck on my way in the driveway to catch the photo.

then, when i had parked in the driveway i noticed the sun coming up over the buildings in our back yard & in the distance it was sort of hazy... just beautiful.  I'm so happy I caught this.  I love where we live...

new releases 12.8

I have a few new releases today!  I'm excited to start bringing a few new things into the mix as we come to the end of the year.  I've been working on adding in printable journaling cards into my kit lineup as I'm working on my own December daily plus this... which I've decided to jump into in 2012 as well...

yep. that's right. I've ordered the Project Life page protectors, bought an album & I'm REALLY excited to get started.  I've had so many ideas over the last few weeks when we're doing things... things I would save of the kids or things that have been said that would go perfectly in the project life album. I think it should be fun & hopefully I can keep up!  Anyway, that's led me down the path to start creating journal cards to fit just right into the page protectors for it... but they can also be used in digital work or hybrid too!  I hope you like them...

this kit comes with printable .pdf & .jpg files + the .png files so you can set up a printable page to your liking OR use them digitally!  some are specific to the holidays, but I've also tried to include ones that could be used year round as well.

in my previous post you can see several in my december daily & here how Allison used one in hers as well!

& to coordinate...

the paper & elements!  The elements have all the journaling cards from the journaling cards pack in .png format + a few more goodies like snowflakes, mists, buttons & stitching.  you can also get the full kit {paper+elements} here.

check out this cute print Shannon made with the papers...

this awesome layout from Shelley...

& these adorable digital december daily pages Jennifer is working on...

& this fun layout by Celeste...

I'm loving working my digital designs into my paper scrapbooking.  So fun to see how well the "cross over".  Hope you love them too :)

remember you can pick them up today for 30% off too!

december daily {days 4&5}

playing catch up today...

12.4.11

on this day, we took a fun trip to go visit Santa. believe it or not, Lydia has NEvEr gone to see Santa.  She's always been WAY too freaked out.  Last year we went, but she bailed. This year we went & she was ready to again, but I bribed her with a gumball :)  The above page is the back of the day 3 page.  For this one I printed out some new journaling cards that will be released Thursday at DHD.  I also used a few of my Kraft Funday stamps.

this was my favorite photo of the day.  She still wouldn't sit on his lap, but she was very excited to talk to Santa & told him just what she wanted.  Lydia said he was very nice :)

for this page I printed out some more digital paper to journal on & used some Lost & Found Christmas & Kraft Funday embellishments, then I sewed it all up.

Right now I'm including Jessie the elf in the album, but he may get an album all to himself.  I think that would be fun.  I printed another journaling card from my release coming Thursday, backed it & added a spine by sewing some Funday paper to it.

12.5.11

& here's the backside to that journaling card with what Jessie did on the fifth.

there wasn't much excitement going on around here on this day, but we did watch Polar Express, which was a favorite of the boys.  It was Lydia's first time seeing it & let's just say... it quieted her right down, which doesn't happen much... unless she's asleep :)

that's all for now.  we're getting a good blanket of snow today, so there is no doubt day 6 will be all about that!

december daily {days 2&3}

hey everyone... I'm back to show you some more pages from my december daily. the more I get into it, I think I'm figuring out how to edit a bit more, knowing I can use extra pictures on layouts too.  this little book is getting chubby already!

so here we go.. 12.2.11

on this day Lydia received her first mail from my parents, who are in Texas for the winter. this was VERY exciting, as we miss them tons already.  I included the envelope {which she ripped open} & will probably include the card when she is done carrying it around :)

I did my journaling on the back side of the envelope & included photos I took while we were reading the card.

on the back side of this was a few pics of what we did that night. Dan was doing inventory at work that night, so we rented the Smurfs & Winnie the Pooh & the kids & I had movie night.

12.3.11

on this day, I was lucky enough to get to go out Christmas shopping, so I made a little envelope by folding over a paper piece & sewed & stapled around the edges, then stuck my receipts from the day in there. I also included a pic of a few of my finds that day.

while I was shopping that day I decided to pick up a new family friend to add a fun family tradition.  When I got home, we read the book & then we discussed names.  We {well, mostly Lydia} decided on Jessie, who is her favorite character from Toy Story.  I stapled {later it was sewn in} a journaling card {freebie printables from here on my blog} to tell the story.

that card just flips up to reveal the whole page.

so that's all for days 2&3.  I feel like it's all over the place... but I'm having fun with it!

december daily {day 1}

I was excited to get started on my December daily today... had to do the dreaded Wal-Mart run this morning though, so I got a little later start than I would have liked.  I did get to pick up some things there to use on it, so that was a bonus!

I found this cute bias tape that's going to be a great addition to the mini. love.

then I found this mini sewing machine!  I've been wanting to get one for my paper projects {I really don't think I'd use it for much else}, so I thought I'd give this a whirl.  It only does straight stitches, but it's small & doesn't take up much room, which is always a bonus. Plus it was only $20, so that was cool.

now... on to day one!

here's the cover page

& a {not so good} shot of the double page spread.

page 1. Day one on the Advent calendar was for the kids to pick out their favorite treat from our little grocery store in town.  The card is from the freebies I put up yesterday.  The "a few of my favorite things" is from a Gap mailer I got in the mail yesterday.

I cut an envelope down from another piece of mail to do my journaling on, added the bias tape & stitched it to the inside edge of the page.

the envelope flips up to reveal the full 2nd page. These are photos from picking up Evan from the elementary school. The picture of the picture of him in a Santa hat that was on the classroom door, Lydia playing teacher while waiting for Evan & a photo of the oranges we got & a label from the pickup of fruit & cheese. Nothing too exciting for our first day, but I had fun documenting it anyway.
